The 2011 program is launching six months before the event and tournament officials have set a goal of $450,000 for this year’s campaign.

“If 140 charities sign up and sell just one ticket per day over the next six months leading up to the tournament, the goal of raising $450,000 for charity will be achieved,” Codding said.

Tseng wins the 2010 Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Rancho Mirage CA-Yani Tseng, surrounded by friends and family, had a special Easter Sunday as she held back a late charge from Suzann Pettersen to win the 2010 Kraft Nabisco Championship.  Tseng made eagle on the 2nd hole and then birdied the 3rd to take a two shot lead over Pettersen and held on down the stretch.  Pettersen had great birdie opportunities on the back nine, but she could not convert to put pressure on Tseng.  Pettersen had a makable chip for eagle on the 18th, but fell short of a tie when her ball stopped inches from the cup.  Tseng then two-putted for par to take the Chamionship Trophy.  The win was the third for Tseng on the LPGA Tour and her second major.

Kraft Nabisco reported that Yani Tseng jumped up four spots in the Rolex Rankings to become the #2 player in the world. Congratulations Yani!

First Day of the Kraft Nabisco Championship

Rancho Mirage, CA-What was supposed to be a rainy day in the California desert, turned out to be just another perfect day for golf.  Round one of the Kraft Nabisco Championship saw some great temperatures and some  great golf.  The Old Course at Mission Hills Country Club is considered by many to be one of the great tournament courses on any tour. The 18th hole surrounded by Poppies Pond is one of the best finishing holes in golf.

The LPGA women posted some sub-par rounds.  Suzann Pettersen is in the lead after day one with a 5 under par 67.  One shot back is Lorena Ochoa with a host of other players 2 shots back at -3.  Defending champion Brittany Lincicome is three shots back and Michelle Wie finished her day with a one under par 71.

Twenty-two players are within four shots of the lead, so it should turn out to be a great weekend of golf for the LPGA and for the first major of the season.
